New & Old Car Scheduled Servicing
How often should you change the oil in your car?
There was a time when engine oil was recommended to be changed every 5,000 kilometres. Gradually, car manufacturers have been extending oil change intervals typically ranging from 10,000 km up to 15,000 km.
So, how often should you change the oil in your vehicle? Has modern engine technology advanced far enough to eliminate the need for regular oil changes?
Let's get this myth out of the way.
Yes, technologies used in modern vehicle engines have improved and the use of synthetic oils can last longer before requiring change but as you drive, products of mechanical wear fuel dilution and oxidation still exist. This contaminates the oil and reduces it's ability to lubricate moving parts and it's ability to hold these contaminates in suspension until the next oil change.
The longer you drive without changing the oil in your vehicle you increase the level of carbon build-up inside the engine, accelerate engine wear and experience poor performance.

Engine Tune-Up
Get Your Car Running At Optimal
When was your last engine tune up?
Is your vehicle running at it's optimum?
Are you experiencing any of these symptoms:
- Engine check light on
- Engine doesn't start as easily as before
- Running rough, especially when started
- Occasional misfiring
- Rough unstable idle, stalling
- Lack of power
- Poor fuel mileage
Spark plugs, Air Filter & Fuel Filters are parts that need to be inspected and replaced when dirty or worn out.
Sometimes spark plugs and fuel filters are not easily inspected and are then often overlooked or forgotten causing drive-ability problems.

Timing Belt Replacement
Engine Alert Lights? We Can Help
When does the timing belt need to be replaced?
Timing belt recommended intervals typically vary from 100,000 km to 150,000 km. You can find the recommended interval in the maintenance schedule of the vehicles log book.
Other things to consider when replacing the timing belt is to look at the condition of the water pump, as well as the timing belt tensioner and idler bearing. It's not always necessary to replace these parts, however it's usually recommended, because failure of water pumps and bearing will cause the timing belt to come loose and further engine damage to occur.

Brake Repairs
Brakes Need Servicing Too
Why does my steering wheel shake when braking at high speed?
Does your steering wheel start to shake when brakes are applied? Is it more noticeable when braking on the highway at 100km/h?
Brake pedal pulsation may also occur. In most cases this issue is caused by warped or unevenly-worn brake rotors.
Brake rotors wear down just like brake pads, although at a much slower rate. The rotor surface can become warped and uneven as they wear due to irregularities in rotor or brake pad material, sticky brake calipers and from overheating due to excessive or continuous braking.
Brake rotor condition should be inspected and replaced if necessary during brake pad replacement or if shaking of the steering wheel and pedal pulsation are present.
